I am to acknowledge the receipt of your Letter of the 8th Instant, transmitting to me, by order of the Lords Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury a Letter from Sir Stanier Porten, with inclosures relative to the Expence of transporting and victualling One Company of the forty second Regiment, from the Isle of Man to Dublin, and am to acquaint you, for the information of their Lordships, that I shall give the proper Directions for reimbursing the said Expence. This directive saw the final troop reduction from the the 1765 stationing of a complete Regiment of 9 Companies plus 2 Companies of Horse to just three Companies which was the number the barracks in Castle Rushen were designed for.
