The Memorial of Chas Lutwidge Recr Genl of the Isle of Man for a Salary
[read May 22 1766, postponed, read 24th June 1766]


To the Right Honourable the Lords Commissioners of his Majesty's Treasury
The Memorial of Chas Lutwidge Receiver General in the Isle of Man Humbly Showeth
That Your Memorialist in Obedience to the directions of their Lordships repaired to the said Island with a number of Officers of the Customs to put in force the powers given by two Acts of Parliament passed the last Session for the putrchase & the putting a Stop to the illicit trade of the said Island.
That Yor Memorialist not receiving those directions till the 28 May last which was only three days before the Sovereignty of the said Island became vested in His Majesty, he was obliged to repair thither as soon as possible to fix the officers for the preventing the illicit trade, but could not receive the Revenues due to his Majesty till he received his Majesty's Commission apppointing him Receiver General of the Revenues in the Isle of Man dated the 22 June 1765, this was sent to him in the said Island.
That Your Memorialist in the discharge of the said Trust has endeavoured to acquitt himself with the greatest fidelity and humbly hopes for the satisfaction & approbation of their Lordships.
Wherefore as he has not yet had any Salary appointed for the said Office, He humbly hopes their Lordships will be pleased to take it into Consideration, and to direct a Command to be made out for the payment or deduction of such a Salary out of his Majesty's Revenues in the said Island, as their Lordships may esteem him deserving of
