T 1/438/101 - Wood kept in the Dark

Gentlemen

Yours of the 23d Ultmo I had Yesterday the Honor of, by Mr Lutwidge, to which I paid all the attention my present Situation would admit of, And which I was happy enough to find answered all the purposes Mr Lutwidge then proposed. My not having as Yet received any Orders from the Crown, or Directions from the Duke of Atholl, relative to those Measures, which may now become necessary, cramps me much in the Execution of my Office; but shall always (where I can with propriety) be ready to obey such Commands as You are pleased to honor me with. And am most respectfully &c John Wood Governor of the Isle of Man.

Castletown 14 June 1765.

[To] The Honorable the Board of Customs
