Brief Description
AP_34(A)_1 21.3.1765 Petition from the Keyes requesting aid in obtaining better conditions with regard to trade etc. Copies taken out of the Tower concerning the Patents granted to Sir John Stanley.
AP_34(A)_2 16.7.1595 The Earl and Countess of Derby appoint four Commissioners to visit the I.O.M. and search the Records for papers relating to the Title to the Island. Any such papers found to be sent, to the'Rolls Chappell in Chancerie Lane,London' for safe custody.
Certificate from the Commissioners and various Manx Officials that search was made in the Treasury at Castle Rushen Aug. 1695 but that the only paper concerning title found was 'a Counterpayne in parchment' dated 16th Sept.in the VIII year of King Henry VIIIth. Of this they had a copy made,which they took,returning the original to the Treasury the door of which was then fastened and sealed... They then searched in Peel Castle,but without result. They then certify that no other place where such documents are likely to be is known.
AP_34(A)_3 24.6.1641 Copy of letter signed 'J.Strange' to John Sharples,Controwler, informing him that the writer had received from Deemster Christian an ancient record 'called an Inquisition',from the Castle Rushen records,which he intended to retain. This was in connection with the Lord's power to nominate and present the Bishop.
AP_34(A)_4 2.10.1668 Extract from Liber Scaccar. Order of the 8th Earl of Derby respecting the Tenure of Lands in the Island and the conduct of the Keys respecting Lace's title to Hango Hill farm.
AP_34(A)_5 2.7.1666 Copy of Commission from Earl of Derby to Bishop Barrow and others authorising them to let his lands for three lives or 21 years etc.

AP_34(A)_7 2.1.1643 Copy of Lease to Robert Calcott of the Nunnery farm;the Customs of the tenants of the Abbeylands in Braddan;'Reast more' the Tithes of Braddan belonging to the dissolved Monastery of Rushen and a 'Sellar' in Douglas. Also two parcells of land in the Treene of Douglas. The lease to be for the lives of himself,his wife and sons.

Robt. Barrie,Water-Bailiff - a House in Castletown and a Close at Scarlett.

AP_34(A)_12 18.9.1666 Copy of Lease to Robt.Calcott (of the Nunnery) of 'Lough Mallo' and 'Calcott's Closes' in Kk.Christ lezayre;the Nunnery Mill, Braddan;the fishing of 'the Burne of Duglas' etc. for the term of three lives. With a certificate that possession was given by cutting sods which were handed to the lessee.

AP_34(A)_14 3.11.1779 Certificate from John Quayle (C.Rolls) that he has searched, without finding them,through the Records from 1643 to 1666 for copies of Commissions as follows:-

AP_34(A)_15 -.-.1612 Extract from Liber Scaccar. being a declaration from the Keys that they do not consider Wm.Tyldesley fit to remain a member of the Keys as he has slandered them in a letter written by Richard Corkill on his behalf to John Ireland (late Lieut.of the Island) Also,they consider the fine imposed upon Corkill to be justified.
AP_34(A)_16 8.3.1755 Petition to Gov.B.Cochrane from certain farmers,tenants of the Duke of Athol,in Lonan, Onchan,Braddan,Marown and Santon. In this they complain of the damage done to their farms and stock by people,mostly strangers,who hunt upon their lands.
