Smelt who had taken no action to obtain redress for the writer although a Court of inquiry had declared him to have seen wrongly superseded (along with several others) by Col. Taubman, Also that Col. Smelt,owing to his attachment to the Taubmans,had refused him justice in respect of Mr.Lee, who had insulted him. (He appears to have been a prisoner in Castle Rushen. N.M.)
