N° 75.

The EXAMINATION of Mr. JAMES BANCKS, taken at Douglas in the Isle of Man, the 5th Day of October 1791

Examined by the Duke of Atholl

This Examinant saith, That by a judgment of the Court of Exchequer,bearing date the 4th of February 1757, an attested copy of which he now delivers in, he was finded in the form of three pounds for destroyingg the Lord's game. That he appealed from the said judgment to the Duke of Atholl by a petition to the then Governor of the Isle of Man, whe refused to accept the said appeal, as appears by the order of dismissal, signed by the said Governor, nd now produced, dated the 21st of March 1757. That he paid this fine of three pounds. That this prosecution was for killing a hare upon Creer's land of inheritance.

Cross-examined by the Keys.

That he was obliged to pay this fine, because the Governor would not accept the appeal.
