N° 38.

The EXAMINATION of Mr. GEORGE SAVAGE, taken at Douglas, in the Isle of Man, on the 28th Day of September 1791

[Examined by His Grace the Duke of ATHOLL.]

THIS Examinant saith, That he is acquainted with the Isle and Castle of Peele, and does not believe that the possession of it by the Crown has in any means contributed to the detection or prevention of illicit practices. .

[Cross-examined by the KEYS.]

That the Cathedral Church of this diocese is situated within the Isle of Peele; that many of the inhabitants of the town of Peele claim a right to be, and are actually buried within the walls of the Cathedral ; that this Cathedral is now entirely in ruins ; that the Prison of the Ecclesiastical Court is on this island, but it has not been used as such for many years.
