LEZAYRE PARISH and Village of SULBY. .

LEZAYRE (or CHRIST-LEZAYRE) parish is in the Sheading of Ayre and northern division of the Isle: it is of cousiderable extent, being seven miles in length from north to-south, and five in breadth from east to west. The parish church is situated two miles west from Ramsey,on the south side of the main road — the living is a vicarage, in the gift of the Crown, the Rev. W.B. Christian is the present incumbent. The northern part of this. district is composed of fine rich land, and presents some respectable mansions to the eye of the traveller; the rest is mountainous and sterile — the most sonthern portion being occupied by the lofty Snafield. the greatest elevation in the island, overlooking the surrounding sea, and embracing within its horizon the shores of the neighbouring countries. The extensive starch works of Mr. Thomas-Stott are in this parish, as are also a carding and spinning mill and several corn mills.

SULBY, a small village in Lezayre parish, consists of a few houses.ranged on the side of the main road to Ramsey, four miles west from that town. Here is a chapel belonging to the establishment, of which the Rev. M.N.Thompson is the chaplain. Two fairs are held annually at this village; one on the 4th of June, the other on the 23rd of July.
