                                      The humble petition
                                      of Eleanor Looney
                                      relict of John Looney
                                      late of Maughold. ___
Sheweth
                              That in the month of July
                      last past John Looney your petitrs.
                      late husband departed this life having
                      first duly made and published his
                      last will and testament and thereof
                      appointed your petitioner his Executrix
                                      That your petitioner being old and __
                              infirm is unable to undertake the burden __
                              of the sd. Estate and begs therefore to propose
                              that her sons Edward Looney and __
                              Thomas Looney of Maughold
                              be appointed and sworn Exors. In trust
                              with the sd. Will annexed for your __
                              petitioners benefits : __
                                                            Wherefore your petitioner
                                                            prays a hearing hereof
                                                            and that your Worship
                                                            may be pleased to grant
                                                            probate of the will of the
                                                            sd. John Looney and
                                                            appoint the sd. Edward
                                                            Looney and Thos. Looney
                                                            admor. In trust of the estate
                                                            of the sd. Deceadent with
                                                            the sd. Will annexed for
                                                            petitioners benefit and
                                                            She will pray

Ordered that this petition do come on
to be heard at a Court to be holden at
Ramsey on friday next the 21st [Inst.]
whereof all proper parties are to have
due notice. __

          At an Eccl. Court held in Ramsey the 21st Decr. 1849. __
    upon hearing this Petition in presence of the parties and upon
    examining  James Fragher and Pat. Looney witnesses to the will of
    John Looney decd. I am of opinion the due execution of the sd.
    will has been proved and that [theupon] probate ought to be
    granted thereon as prayed for and the same is hereby to
    ordered and Decreed accordingly.

WHEREAS the Ecclesiastical Court of this Diocese hath this day granted Probate of the Will
____________________________________________  of  John Looney. __  late of
Maughold  ___  deceased, to Edwd. Looney  &  Thos. Looney
in trust for Elr. Looney the Executrix therein
named. ___
AND WHEREAS    Jas. Fargher   of   the Glebe  ___
in the Parish of Maughold and  Pat. Looney  __
of  Ballakilley   in the Parish of Maughold    have agreed
to become pledges to the said  Edwd. Looney & Thos. Looney for the due administration
of the said Estate according to law.   _____

Therefore, know all men by these Presents, that we, the said   James  Fargher
        ___________    and   Pat. Looney  ___  hereby bind and oblige
ourselves, and our Executors, and Administrators, as pledges to the said  Edwd.  Looney  __
and  Thos.   Looney.   ___   for the due and faithful administration of the goods 
and effects of the said deceased, according to law.  And in their default we bind ourselves and our Executors 
and Administrators, to be answerable to all parties interested in the said Estate, or the Administration thereof.
Witness our subscriptions, this   21st  day of  Decr. 1849

     The Last will and testament of John Looney
of the parish of Maughold being of a perfect
mind and memory at the making thereof
          ffirst he committed his soul to God and his
          body to Christian burial
Secondly  He left and bequeathed nominated and
          appointed that all his land buildings and
          edifices thereon erected and all his goods
          and effects movable and unmovable to
          Remain in possession and to be the property 
          of his loving wife Eleanor Looney during her
          life time or to her death Legacy and then
          to descend to his children or legatees (as shall
          be hereafter mentioned) when he shall depart this life
Thirdly  He left and bequeathed his right title
          property and interest of and unto that small
          plot of Land called Croitt - ny - champey purchased 
          from the Revd. John Nelson between his two sons
          Edward Looney and Thomas Looney each one
          half or moity and to be divided so that
          his son Edward is to have the dwelling
          house shed and pig sty and his son Thomas 
          to have the Barn and Stable which are erected 
          upon the said premises Legacy
Fourthly  He left and bequeathed unto his daughter
          Anne Looney the sum of seven pounds cash
          also the parleur bed bedstead curtains bolster
          pillow and all bedclothes as it stands at
          the making of this his last Will and testament
          Legacy
Fifthly   He left and bequeathed unto his daughter
          Cathrine Quine a heifer Legasy
Sixthly   He left and bequeathed unto his daughter Eleanor
          Kerruish a black gown Legacy
Seventhly  and lastly  He nominated constituted and
          appointed his loving wife Eleanor Looney als
          Callister whole and sole executrix of all the rest
          of his goods and effects movable and immovable
          of whatever kind or nature they be to be enjoyed
          by her as her own right and property in testimony
          whereof he caused his mark to be placed to his 
          name this 25 day of Nov 1844

        At an Eccl. Court  held in Ramsey the 21st Decr. 1849. _

James Fargher and Patrick Looney the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing
Paper writing purporting to be the last will and Testament of John Looney
decd. having made oath on the holy Evangelists that the sd. John
Looney the Testator when of Sound disposing mind memory and understanding
duly signed and executed the same in their presence as and for his last
will and Testament and the Executrix having by a paper writing dated
the 19th [Inst.] renounced the Executorship Edwd. Looney and Thomas
Looney are sworn well and truly to administer the personal Estate and
Effects of the Testator in terms of the sd. will and according to law,
to pay all just debts legacies and funeral expenses of the Testator 
so far forth as the Goods will extend and the law bind them, and to
return to the Epis'Copal Registry of this Diocese a full true and perfect
Inventory of the sd. Estate with an accurate account of their acts
and proceedings in the Premises when their unto lawfully required and
                                                                           the sd.
to these ends they have given pledges namely  ^  Jas. Fargher and
Pat. Looney who have executed the usual Bond in presence of the
Court. __                                          Probatum est

I Eleanor Looney relict of John Looney
of the parish of Maughold late deceased do
hereby renounce the executorship of the will of
the sd. John Looney and request that
my sons Edward Looney and Thomas Looney
may be appointed and sworn exors. in trust  -
under the sd. will with the will annexed for my
benefit - Witnessing subscription this 19th 
day of December  1849.  -     Eleanor Looney
