Archdeacon Wills 1798 #6, Conchan, of Revd Thomas Quayle, died 6 March 1797:

I, Thomas Quayle, Vicar of the Parish of Onchan, with blessing and praising God . . do make my last will and testament in manner following, that is to say: I leave and bequeath unto RICHARD ALLEN'S THREE DAUGHTERS all my wife's clothes and apparel of what kind soever between them to share and share alike. I leave and bequeath to MR. RICHARD SYMONS his aunt's mahogany chest, loden press, and the large .. chair. I leave unto my SISTER QUAYLE ten guineas if she survives me to buy her mourning and not otherwise. I leave unto my NIECE ELIZABETH LOWREY of Castletown twenty pounds. To my NIECE ANN QUAYLE of Billown in Malew my mortgage on Ballnybarrey in KK Maughold with all the interest that may be in arrears thereon, a bedstead, a feather bed, bolster pillows, a pair of sheets, a pair of blankets and a quilt. To my NIECE ELLINOR QUAGGIN twenty pounds. To my NEPHEW THOMAS QUAYLE of Billown the desk in the corner near the clock, the fir press for clothes, the kitchen table and .. in the parlour, and the arms chair and cupboard in the kitchen. To my NEPHEW EWAN QUAYLE my one third share in the mortgage which the LATE CAPTAIN JOHN OATES had on Ingebreck. I also leave unto him my said NEPHEW EWAN QUAYLE the clock as also my mortgage upon Knock-y-voddan with the interest. I also leave unto JOHN HAMPTON'S FOUR DAUGHTERS by HIS LATE WIFE JANE my mortgage on Ballanord[?sp} equally between them and in case any one of them dies before fourteen years of age, her survivors are to have her share equally between them. And I leave to the said JOHN HAMPTON'S THREE SONS by HIS SAID WIFE JANE my mortgage on DANIEL CLARK's house, and my one half concern of the mortgage on THOMAS QUIGGIN's house with all the interest which may be in arrears in the said mortgages . . I leave to the poor of this Parish . . master of the parish school to be laid out . . their use by the Vicar and Wardens for the time being . . And I hereby give and leave to my servant girl or girls who be in my service at the time of my decease two guineas for mourning. And is is my desire and I hereby diret that when it shall please God to call me out of this World, to be privately buried at the discretion of my executor. And the rest of all . . singular my goods chattels mortgages bills bonds .. and effects I give and leave to my NEPHEW JOHN QUAYLE of Douglas. And I do hereby constitute and appoint unto the said JOHN QUAYLE whole and sold executor of this my last will and testament. AT AN ECCLESIASTICAL COURT holden in the Courthouse in the Parish of KK Patrick on the 23rd day of March 1798: The executor is sworn in Court in form of law and hath given pledges for the payment of debts and legacies namely the witnesses of the Will. PETITION OF JOHN QUAYLE of the town of Douglas, Sheweth, that you petitioners UNCLE THE REVD. THOMAS QUAYLE Vicar of the Parish of KK Onchan did depart this live the 6th instant [March 1797], . . .

I ALEXANDER LOWRY of Castletown HUSBAND OF ELIZABETH LOWRY which said Elizabeth was one of the NIECES OF THE REVD. THOMAS QUAYLE late Vicar of KK Conchan, do hereby acknowledge to have received from the hands of MR. JOHN QUAYLE of Douglas executor of the last Will and Testament of the said deceased, the sum of twenty pounds Manks currency, being the legacy left unto my said wife in and by the last will and testament of the said Thomas Quayle and I do hereby acquit and exonerate and discharge the said John Quayle his executors administrators assigns of and from the same as.. my hand this 5th June 1799 [signed] Alex Lowry.

I ELLINOR QUIGGIN ALS QUAYLE of KK Malew do acknowledge to have received the sum of twenty pounds. . . June 5th 1799.

RECEIVED FROM THE HANDS OF CAPTN JOHN QUAYLE of Douglas Executor of the late REVD. THOMAS QUAYLE Vicar of KK Conchan the sum of twenty pounds Manks Currenty which said sum of twenty pounds was left by the said Revd. Thomas Quayle, that is to say ten pounds of said sum to be laid in interest for the use of the poor of the said parrish and ten pounds to be laid out on interest for the use of the parochial schoolmaster . . this 20th October 1798 [signed] James Banks, Thomas C..

I THOMAS QUAYLE of Ballavin in the parish of Malew, HUSBAND OF MARGARET QUAYLE SISTER OF THE REVD. THOMAS QUAYLE late Vicar of KK Conchan and now deceased, do hereby acknowledge to have received by and with the consent of my wife from the hands of MR. JOHN QUAYLE of the town of Douglas, executor of the last will and testament of the Revd. Thomas Quayle aforesaid the sum of ten pounds ten shillings British being a legacy left unto my said wife in and by the last will and testament of the said Thomas Quayle deceased, . . . as witness my hand this 15th April 1799 [signed, their marks] Thomas Quayle, Margaret Quayle."
