Archdeacon Wills 1798 #31, of John Shimmin of Greneby, Malew, miller, died about 18 April 1797:

"The last will and testament of John Shimmin of Greneby miller who departed this life about the 18th day of April last 1797, and who being sound and perfect in mind and memory at the making hereof. First, he committed his soul to Almighty God and his body to Christian burial. Secondly, he left and bequeathed to his son William Shimmin whatever dealing they had and what he had given him out of his has was not to be taken or recovered of him by any person and also he left him all his clothes, and also he left to his daughter Ann Killey the sum of a guinea. Thirdly, he left and bequeathed all the rest of his goods and effects to his loving wife Cathrine Shimmin and nominated and appointed her to be whole and sole executrix thereof and whatever goods and effects would be left remaining after her death he further left and bequeathed to his said two children equally between them and excluded all cravens with six pence a piece as legacy. And she the said Cathrine Shimmin who also departed this life about the 24th of April 1797 consented to this Will at the making hereof. Witnesses: David Duggan, Margret Kermod.

At a Chapter Court holden at Castletown 13 Jun 1798, Catharine Shimmin the within named testator having departed this life, Wm Shimmin and John Killey husband of Ann Killey are sworn executors in Court in form of law and xxx to be true and just the one to the other on the xxx of the effects and have given pledges for the payment of debts and legacies namely Thomas Cowin and Daniel Christian both of Conchan."
