Know all these men by these present that I Phillip Finch of the town of Douglas divers good causes and reasons me hereunto moving but more especially for and in consideration of the love and affection which I have and do bear to my loving son-in-law Hugh Cosnahan of the said town have given granted and passed over and gifted and all by these present do give grant pass over and deliver as an absolute gift unto him Hugh Cosnahan his heirs executors administrators and assignees for ever my estate of the Lough all the appurtenances thereunto or in anywise belonging in the Parish of Kirk Conchan together with all my houses and concerns in the town of Douglas with also every other concerns I have whither in lands houses or debts due to me to have and to hold unto him Hugh Cosnahan his heirs executors administrators and assignees the premises aforesaid immediately upon my decease with all ways waters water course easements and liberties profits and advantages to the same belonging or in anywise appertaining he the said Hugh Cosnahan his executors administrators and assignees yielding and paying yearly and ever after my decease such annual lords rents as the premises respectfully bear with all other dues and duties boons suits and services annually incumbent and payable thereon at all times usual and seasons accustomed and for the better ratification of this deed of gift I the said Phillip Finch do also at the execution of these pres[ents] give and deliver livery service and possession of the premises before mentioned with all other appurtenances unto the said Hugh Cosnahan by the delivery of a piece of silver called an English Crown and for the true and faithful performance of this deed and of everything therein contained I do also hereby find and oblige myself in the penalty and forfeiture of one thousand pounds sterling to be levied and paid according to the law and custom of this Isle of Man as witness my hand and seal this fifth day of May seventeen ninety two. Signed sealed and delivered and liveried and seizin by the delivery of an English Crown in presence of Thomas Stole Robert Brown third October seventeen ninety two. Thomas Stole and Robert Brown made oath that they were present when Phillip Finch executed the foregoing deed of gift before me John Cosnahan at a court barron holden in Douglas for Garff Sheading – October 1792. The before written deed of gift has been proved before the high bailiff and now openly published in court and no objection offered against it the same is therefore allowed of and confirmed Thomas Moore Richard Clague examined by me Richard Clague clerk to the Commissioners of His Grace the Duke of Atholl.

 

At a Chapter Court holden at Douglas November the seventh seventeen ninety two the beforegoing deed of gift having been lawfully proved the same is accepted as and for the last will and testament of Phillip Finch the donor and Hugh Cosnahan the donee is sworn for the payment of debts and legacies according to law to which he has given pledges namely the Reverend Robert Quayle Vicar of Bradden and Richard Nicholas Christian Chaplain of St Georges acceptum est Evan Christian William Clucas.
