Archdeacon Wills 1790 #17, Malew, of Barbara Cooley [alias Oates] of Castletown:

"In the name of God, Amen. I Barbary Cooley of Castletown being weak in body but of sound and perfect memory, blessed be the Almighty God for the same, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following: First, I leave and bequeath to Anne Gell my spinning wheel. I leave and bequeath all my wearing apparel to Jane and Anne Gell equally to be divided between them, and if my daughter should ever happen to come to the Island and to be poor and in need, my desire is that she is to get my bed. And lastly, as to all the rest of my goods of what kind or nature soever be, I leave and bequeath the same to my beloved friend Charles Gell of Castletown whom I hereby appoint sole executor of this my last will and testament and do hereby leave out all other cravers with six pence legacy. In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands this 5th day of March 1790. Witnesses: Thomas Cottier, William Clague.

At a Chapter Court holden at Castletown, June 10th,1790, the executor is sworn in Court in form of law and hath given pledges for the payment of debts of legacies namely Thomas Cottier and William Clague both of Castletown."
