"This is affirmed the last will and testament of Thomas Oates of Ballafurt in the parish of KK Santon, made and declared on the 18^th day of October 1787
. First, he commended his soul to Almighty God and his body to a Christian burial.
Item, he bequeathed to his daughter Margaret Karran thirty three pounds, thirteen pounds of said sum already being paid her.
Item, he bequeathed to his granddaughter Jane Oates the sum twenty pounds and a feather bed and cloaths.
Item, he bequeathed to his sister Marey Oates the sum of two pounds.
Lastly, he constituted nominated and appointed his son John Oates to be whole and sole executor of all his goods and effects moveable and immovable of what kind or denomination soever. Witness: Thomas Quinney."
