Archdeacon Will 1777 #78, Jurby, of John Christian of BallaChurry, Jurby, died 11 Jan 1777:

"This is affirmed to be the last will and testament of John Christian of Balla-Churry in the parish of Jurby who departed this life on the 11th of January in the year 1777 being of sound and disposing mind and memory at the making hereof. First, he committed his soul to God and his body to Christian burial. Also, he left and bequeathed to his daughter Esther the sum of six pounds. And to his daughter Catharine the sum of four pounds to continue and remain in the hands of her mother till the said Catharine has arrived to the age of twenty one years. Also, he left and bequeathed to his son John all his apparel and four yards of the brown cloth then in the house besides twenty shillings. And to his grandson John a sheep. Likewise to his loving wife his part of a small heixxxx[?]. He also left and bequeathed to his daughter Jane and her mother his part of the crop equally betwixt them. Lastly, he constituted and appointed his daughter Jane sole Executrix of all the rest of his goods and effects moveable and immoveable whatsoever. He also left to the witnesses of this his will one shilling each and to whosoever would claim any further right or title to his goods and effects six pence legacy. Witnesses: Michael Caley, Thomas Teare.

At a Court of Correction holden at KK Michael February 6th, 1777: The Executrix is sworn in Court in form of Law and hath given pledges for the payment of debts and legacies, namely the Witnesses of the Will."
