 To the Revd. James Wilks Vicar General &c
           The Humble Petition of Mary Corlet of the Town of Ramsey

Showeth 
That Issable Christian alias Kelvin who was the wife
    of Daniel Christian of the said Town departed this  (Some)(crossed out)
    Life sometime in the month of April which was in the
   year of our Lord  1761, Intestate or without having made a _ 
   Will, leaving five Children behind her, namely John, William,
  George, Jane and Catherine Christian who ought to have been
  Decreed Joint Administrators of all the Goods , Chattels, and
  Effects that appertained to their sd. Decd. Mother. Especially _
  as there were Certain concerns of Houses and a garden being
 Chattels in the sd. Town belonging to them the sd. Danl. Christian
 and his wife aforesd. at the time of her decease, But however
 a Decree of the Administration of her Effects was never as yet _
 made by the Spiritual Court as by Certificates under the hands
 of both Registers may appear, And Jane Christian one of the
 Children aforesd. having Since by Deed in writing Relinguished
 her Right to her sd. Deceased Mother's Effects to her Sister Catherine
 Christian as may appear --- And She the sd. Catherine Christian _
having sold all her whole Right, Title, property and Interest to
and in the promises aforesd. to your Petr. for which She fully
paid, being then ignorant in the matters, And as she your Petr.
now apprehends that her Right under Such a purchase cannot
be properly Established untill a Decree of the Administration
of the Goods, Chattels and Effects of the Decd. Issable Christian alias
Kelvin be first made by your Revd. Court _  She the sd. Seller
Catherine Christian having gone off this Isle as soon as She had
gotten your Petrs. money in manner aforesd.
     Your Petr. therefore most humbly prays your Revce. to take
     the matter and her Condition and Circumstances in this respect
     to your most judicious Consideration, and to be Graciously _
     pleased to Grant her Authority to Charge as many of the 
     Children of the Decd. Issable Christian alias Kelvin aforesd. As
     are in the Isle to appear before your Revd. Court in order to
     have a Decree made of the Administration of their sd. Decd. Mother's
     Effects Whereby your Petr. may attain to Justice, And in Case
     they will refuse to [Accept] of such an Administration, that
     your Petr. may be admitted thereunto herself, as She is
     willing to undergo the Burden thereof, in order to have _
     the benefit of Justice as aforesd. And She as in Duty bound
     shall for ever pray  &c

       Ordered that the matters of this Petition to come on to be heard at a Court of Correction
       to be holden at Lezayre on Tuesday the 25th [Inst.] whereof all proper Parties & Persons
       to have due & legal notice & service given    17th …..   1777

       On Consideration of the matters of this Petition ordered that 
the same to come on to be heard at a Chapter Court to be
holden at Lezayre on Thursday the 2..th  [Inst.] whereof all [people]
Parties & Persons to have due notice & sevice _  and the [Debt].. (side missing)
to come prepared wth. Certificates of …….. of Isab: Christian….
Burial, & that there is neither Will or Decree of  [Administrati]….
on the Registries or either of them

   I Evan Christian Ep. Reg. do hereby certify whom it may concern That
I have searched the Episcopal Registry for the Will, or Administration of the
Effects of the before named Isabel Christian als. Kelvin, & that neithe..
has been recorded in the said Registry since the year 1760
WITNESS, my Name this 17th Day of June 1776  ___

I Thomas Cubbon Arch. Reg. do hereby certify that I have searched …..
the Will of the before named Isabel Christian als. Kelvin, & that I can….
find any such Will recorded in the Archdns. Registry since the year 1761

                         of KK Maughold by me

RAMSEY                                             At a Court of Correction holden  }
                                                              at Lezayre Febry. 25th  1777        }

               ISABEL CHRISTIAN als. Kelvin departed this Life on
or about the 22nd Day of April in the year of our Lord
1761 Intestate __  The Court having recd. Intelligence thereof
hath DECREED her five Children namely, John, William,
George, Jane & Catharine Christian joint Admors. of all
her Goods & Chattels moveable & immoveable whatsoever _  Jane
having relinguished & surrendered her Right to the Adminion.
unto her Sister Catharine as by Deed of [Quit] _claim bearing 
Date 19th Octer, 1775 appears, & the said Cath. having sold
her Right ^of certain Concerns^ unto Mary Corlett as by
Deed of Sale bearing Date 25th Octr. 1775 likewise appears
and the said John & George being off this Isle, Wm. In his
own Right as also that of his absent Brethren, with Mary
Corlett aforesd. are sworn well & truly to administer the
Goods of the Intestate & to pay all her just Debts so


far as the Goods will extend & the Law shall bind them
&  ^the said Wm.^  to return a perfect Inventory to the Registry  ^in Behalf of his absent Brethren^ & have
given Pledges in Form of Law, namely John Corlett &
John Crosby both of Ramsey ________
