Archdeacon Wills 1776 #14, Marown, of William Karran, made September 1775, will proved 1776:

‘This is affirmed to be the last will and testament of William Karran of KK Marown, made and declared in our presence the 26th of September 1775, being in perfect mind and memory at the making hereof. First, he committed his soul to God and body to Christian burial. Secondly, he left and bequeathed to his grandson William Karran forty pounds legacy, to be left in the hands of his father Thomas Karran without paying interest out until he would come to the age of 21 years after his decease, and if the said William was to be put to trade, that his father was to give him ten pounds of said sum. Thirdly, he appointed that in case William would die, and that his son Thomas would have no more issue, that then his said son was to have the sum left to William entirely to himself. He also left to his son Thomas a plow crain and sock, and six pence legacy to all claimers. Fourthly and lastly, he nominated and appointed his loving wife Abigail Karran als Callow sole executrix of all the rest of his effects moveable and immoveable whatsoever. [signed his mark] William Karran. Witnesses: William Cubbon, John Leece.

At a Chapter Court holden at Douglas, February 6th, 1776, the executrix is sworn in Court in form of Law and hath given pledges for the payment of debts and legacies namely William Cubbon of Marown and John Leece of KK Santan. Thomas Karran son of the testator has given pledges for the forthcoming of the legacy of forty pounds bequeathed to his son William namely William Cubbon and John Leece above mentioned.'
