Archdeacon Wills, Conchan, 1769 2nd book, #29, of John Oates Senior of Bibaloe:

"In the name of God, Amen! I John Oates Senior of Bibaloe in the Prish of KK Onchan being indisposed in body but of sound mind and understanding do make this my last will and testament in the manner and form following: That is to say, First, I leave and bequeath unto my three children, William, Catharine, and Jane, one shilling each. I also order and direct that ten shillings may be distributed among the poor of the Parish after my decease by my executor herein after mentioned. And the rest, residue and remainder of my personal estate I give and bequeath unto my son John and do hereby constitute and appoint him my said son John whole executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name. This twenty-eighth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sisty three. [signed] John Oates. Witnesses: Thomas Quayle, William Christian. At a Chapter Court holden near Douglas June 6, 1769, The exsecutor is sworn in court in form of law . . ."
