Archdeacon Wills 1768 #49, Braddan, of Mary Moore wife of Revd Philip Moore, Rector of Ballaugh:

‘In the name of God and Jesus Christ our Saviour, Amen. I, Mary Moore wife of Revd Philip Moore, Rector of Ballaugh, considering the uncertainty of human life, do make this my last will and testament in the following manner: First, I commit and recommend my soul to God and my body to Christian burial. Item, I leave and bequeath to the poor of the town of Douglas the sum of ten pounds to be distributed at the discretion of my executor, with the advice and assistance of the wardens, to as many poor house keepers, within six months after my decease. Item, I leave and bequeath to my dear husband aforesaid all that I have in the world, excepting and reserving my own proper use and disposal the sum of two hundred pounds British, out at interest on bond and note. He my said husband to have and enjoy the interest there of during life, and the capital at my own option as may hereafter devise. Lastly, I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint him my dear and affectionate husband the sole executor and administrator of this my last will and testament, excluding all claiming relations with six pence legacy. As witness my hand this last day of April in the year of our Lord 1759. [signed] Mary Moore. Witnesses: Richard Allen, Charles Crebbin.

At a Chapter Court holden in KK Marown 13th June 1768: the Executor is sworn in court in form of law and hath given pledges for the payment of debts and legacies namely Richard Allen of Lezayre and the Revd. Charles Crebbin the witnesses of the will.’
