Archdeacon wills 1761 #42, Malew, of Robert Quayle of Malew:

‘In the name of God, Amen. I Robert Quayle of the parish of Kirk Malew being much indisposed in body but of perfect mind and understanding, do make this my last will and testament in the manner and form following, that is to sa: First, I q]give and bequeath to my loving wife all my moiety of our houses and lands with all their appurtenances for and during the times of her vidaily[?] and no longer. And then to fall and descend unto my son Thomas, and in case he died before he arrives at the age of twenty one yars, then and in that case I leave and bequeath the same to my son John. And also order and direct, and my will is, that my said son Thomas when he become duly possessed of the said concerns shall give and pay unto my said son John the sum of ten pounds. I also leave unto my said son John the further sum of four pounds to be paind him by my executor hereafter herein after mentioned in order to put him in business. I also leave and bequeath unto my daughter Eleanor twenty pounds. I also encumber and charge my moiety of that part of my purchased lands in the Moaney Moar with the further sum of forty shillings to be paid by my said son Thomas, when peaceably possess of the same, unto my daughter Margaret now living with William Kormode. I leave six pence legacy to any claimer. I also leave the tuition of my said three children namely Thomas, John & Eleanor during their minority unto my said loving wife. And the residue and remainder of all the rest of my goods, chattels, credits, and effects, I give and bequeath unto my said loving wife; and in consequence of the foregoing bequests made unto her, she hath consented and hereby settled her moiety of our said houses and lands with their appurtenances after her decease upon our said son Thomas in the manner aforesaid. And I do hereby constitute and appoint her m loving wife whole executrix of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this 2nd March 1761. At a Chapter Court holden at Ballnahowin 24th April 1761, the executrix is sworn in Court in form of Law, and hath also given her consent that her moiety or share of the houses and lands with their appurtenances shall descent after her decease to her son Thomas in manner as more fully specified in the within will. For which end as also for the payment of debts and legacies she hath given pledges, namely the Revd Thomas Quayle, Vicar of Onchan, & John Harrison of Malew. The tuition of the orphans committed to the executrix pursuant to the will as and also their goods and the said Revd. Thomas Quayle, John Quayle of Castletown, cooper, Thomas Quayle of Billown and William Quayle of Malew uncles to the said Children are sworn supervisors.’
