Episcopal Wills 1748 Ramsey #1, Catherine Kelvie als Blackburn

This is the Last Will &  Testament of  Cath  Kelvie als  
Blackburn of the Town of  Ramsey who departed 
This life about the  22nd  of June  Anno  Dom :
1748  who being sick  & weak in Body but of per
fect mind & memory at the making  hereof

First She left all worldly goods unto her 
Three children ecepting  her apparrel linnen
& woolen which  she left unto her Aunt  Eliz :
Clague   ( for taking care of & maintaining  her young :
est child  James Kelvie ) excepting  her wearing gown 
& red petticoat which she left unto her maid, Jane
Kneal being one of the Witnesses ; together wth her
Best Ring unto her sd  son  James  & the next
"---n "  second best ring unto her husband  Thos
Kelvie, and all the rest equally betwixt her
"---d " children  - Item she left  six pence legacy to
"-----y "  that could legally claim right to her goods
She left her sd  Aunt  Eliz :  Clague to take care
of her sd child  James  two or three years

Wm : Clague is sworn  Overseer - as also - [-----]
"----ttn "  payment of Debts  &  Legacys according to Law
"------le "  is agreed upon that the second child is to
be in the custody  & [ Tuition ] of   Elizabeth  Clague
[ pledges ]  for the '--------- '  Thos   " Ca--------- "
&  Thos  Cannel  junior
The husband is sworn to enter a just  " -------- "
Of the goods for ye  orphans

Solvit   12d                  probatum  ' --- "

Wm Cowle is sworn overseer for the orphans of Cath : Kelvie
als  Blackburn  --  and Elizth  the step mother is sworn
to deliver up the goods of the deceased to the overseers
& to the Legacies  as  "------   ---- "                Edw :  Moore

[ Lib ]  in  [ Chapter ]  Court in [ Lezayre ]   May  30th  1749
Thos :  Kelvie  father of the orphans of Cath : Kelvie  has
by consent of the overseers taken the goods in the Inventory
& undertakes   to give  fourty shills more than the [ appraisin ]
Pledges in  form  of  Law  --   are  Edwd  Curphy  &  Wm  Curphy

and estimate the House and Gardens &  May [?Hay] Ground belonging 
to Thos : Kelvie  husband of the within  Dec,d  Cath : Kelvie
and having view'd  the premises, do value & esteem
the  same upon the [ deed ]  part, to be worth,  one
pound  fifteen  shills  [ per ]  Annum --  and this we return 
for our verdict as witness our subsciptions this  28th 
March    1749

The marriage of Thomas Kelvie & Catherine Blackburn cannot be found in Manx Registers but likely c. 1737
Their likely children are:
JON bapt Mau 17380215 - Thos Kelvie + un named mother - John married Leonora Cowle Mau 1763-11-10
WM bapt Mau 17400308 - Thos Kelvie + un named mother
THO bapt Mau 17421222 - Thos Kelvie + Ann and possibly buried a month later bur Lez 17420109 (small pox) though deaths of very young infants from small pox are less common
JAMES bapt Mau 17450406 - Thos Kelvie + Cath

If Cath is from a Manx Blackburn family then they were mostly based in Malew at that time - not sure of link to Clague family;

Thomas married for a second time very shortly afterwards to a widow Elizabeth Cole als Curghy m Mau 1748-07-16 - John + James Kelvie are mentioned in 1760 will of her son Richard
