Episcopal Will of Philip Moore senior, 1746 book 2

The last Will & Testament of Philip Moore Senior of Douglas.

To my Son George Moore the money on Mortgage on my Brother Cooper's Miln unto him & his wife each a broad piece of Gold & each a Gold Ring, The money due to me from my Concerns at Peeltown which I settled upon him I bequeath to his Sons Philip & George Moore.

To my Son James Moore one half of my Estate called the Gowershaw in Cronton near Prescot in the Co. of Lancaster. Six Spoons & a Soope Ladle of Silver (all marked with a Crescent or Half Moon) a Clock. & a broad piece of Gold & a Gold Ring.

To my eldest Son Philip Moore the other half of the sd Estate of the Gowershaw in Cronton.

To the two daughters of my son Philip Moore viz. Margaret & Mary Moore my Grandchildren, if they marry with their Fathers Consent, all that Estate called Wavertree situated lying & betwixt Liverpool & Childoe in the Co. of Lancaster. Also all the Linnen Bedding & Household Goods of what nature or kind soever (the Plate & Clock excepted) that is in the House I now live in; or to the survivor; or to their Father Philip Moore in case of their death before they arrive at the Age of 21 years.

To my grandson Peregrine son of my son John Moore deceased £380.

To the Rt Revd the Lord Bishop & the 24 Keys of this Isle £500 in trust to pay a Schoolmaster qualified to teach Latin & such other Learning as may fit youth for the Service of the Country in Church or State.

Son Philip Moore whole & sole Executor.
