Archdeacon Wills 1742 #16, Arbory, of Richard Stevenson of Balladoole, Arbory:

‘KK Arbory 1742, in the name of God, amen. I Richard Stevenson of Balladoole in the Isle of Man being in sound and disposing mind and memory do make this my last will and testament relating only to my affairs in the Isle of Man in manner following, but reserving all other my effects as they already are or hereafter shall be disposed of by my testament for that purpose. Imprimus, whereas my real estates devolve to my heir at law for the time being it is not my intention to alter the law. Item, I devise unto my brother Major John Stevenson the sum of five shillings. Item, I devise unto my sister Jane Stevenson the sum of five shillings. Item, I devise unto my sister Elizabeth Stevenson the sum of five shillings. Item, I devise unto my sister Dorothy Stevenson the sum of five shillings. Item, I devise the sum of three pounds to the poor at the discretion of my executrix. Item, I devise all the residue of my personal fortune and effects that I shall be possessed of or any way xxx unto at my decease within this Isle only to my mother Jane Stevenson whom I hereby constitute sole executrix of this my last will and testament relating only to my personal effects in this Island and reserving my effects elsewhere as they already are or hereafter shall be disposed of by me, in witness whereof I hereunto put my hand & seal this sixth day of August one thousand seven hundred forty one. At Balladoole, September 22, 1742, Mrs. Jane Stevenson mother of the testator is sworn executrix in form of law, and has given pledge for payment of debts and legacies, namely, the Revd. John Quayle Vicar of Malew.’
