Archdeacon Will 1738 #17, Marown, of Ann Clucas als Quay, wife of William Clucas of Ballanicholas, died 1 April 1738

"KK Marown, 1738: This is affirmed to be the last will and testament of ANNE CLUCAS who departed this life the 1st of April 1738.

Imprimis, she committed her soul to God and her body to Christian burial.
Item, she left and bequeathed the riding horse to her HUSBAND.
Item, she left and bequeathed her part of the crop, team and husbandry gears to the HEIR.
Lastly, she appointed and declared her TWO DAUGHTERS joint Executors of all the rest of her goods moveable and immoveable whatsoever.

Witnesses: Thomas Christian, Jane Coultrey.

ONE OF THE EXECUTRICES VIZT., ANN THE YOUNGEST CHILD being dead, the FATHER together with the UNCLES CAPT. CLUCAS, HUGH CRAIN & JOHN KAIGHIN are sworn overseers of the other EXECUTRIX A MINOR, as also of the HEIR, who by the consent of the Supervisors are together with their goods committed to their father.
Jane Coultrey, one of the witnesses, deposes that the Testatrix left a cow in calf to the heir.
Pledges for the father are Capt. CLUCAS & JOHN KAIGHIN.

The said CAPT CLUCAS AND JOHN KAIGHIN AND HUGH CRAIN having taken a just view and computation of the goods due to the Executrix do declare by virtue of their oath that they look upon the sum of seventeen pounds to be more for the benefit of the children than if the goods were valued by sworn men. And therefore the said sum of seventeen pounds is accepted for the Inventory of the effects of the Testatrix, and this exclusive of the crop, team, and husbandry gear.

KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS that I WILLIAM CLUCAS of Ballanicholas in the parish of KK Marown do own and justly confess myself indebted unto my ELDEST DAUGHTER ESTHER CLUCAS the full and just sum of thirty five pound Manks currency, the same being the valuation of the goods which hath fallen or became due unto my said daughter in right of HER MOTHER and HER BROTHER HENREY CLUCAS, and for the better payment or security of the said thirty five pound unto her my said daughter or her assigns, I the aforesaid WILLIAM CLUCAS do transfer and assign from me my heirs Executors administrators and assigns unto her my said DAUGHTER ESTHER CLUCAS heirs Executors administrators and assigns a certain parcel of Intack land adjoining to my own quarterland of Ballanicholas within the aforesaid parish commonly called by the name of Cunneyboingey being of the annual Lord's Rent of ten pence or thereabouts be it more or less, to have and to hold as security unto her my said daughter the before mentioned premises her heirs Executors administrators and assigns with all and ever its appurtenances, until the said sum of thirty five pound be fully paid and satisfied, and for the true and faithful performance of the within named premises I the said WILLIAM CLUCAS do bind myself my heirs Executors and assigns in the penalty and forfeiture of severnty pound to be levied in nature of all fines withint this Isle in testimony whereof I have caused my mark to be put to my name the 30th of May 1751. AT KK MICHAEL OCTOBER 28, 1755:
ESTHER CLUCAS DAUGHTER OF ANN CLUCAS ALS QUAY of KK Marown late deceased, but now WIFE OF WILLIAM ALEXANDER, and the said WILLIAM ALEXANDER came before me and acknowledged to have received from their FATHER WILLIAM CLUCAS of Ballanicholas of said parish the sum of thirty five pounds being in full consideration for the goods that became due to her the said ESTHER by the decease of her said MOTHER as also by the decease of her BROTHER HENRY CLUCAS, and do hereby acquit and discharge their said father for the same, as well as the within obligation, witness their subscription the day and date first above written.
