Archdeacon Wills 1734/5 #56, Rushen, of Christian Kermod als Crebbin, of Soroby, Rushen, died 4 January 1734/5:

"The last will and testament of Christian Kermod als Crebbin of Soroby in the parish of Trinity Rushen who departed this life the fourth of January in the year of our Lord God 1734/5, being in perfect mind and memory at the making hereof. First, she committed her soul to God and her body to Christian burial. Item, she bequeathed to her loving husband Thomas Kermod the sum of forty shillings. Item, to her eldest son William her part of the crop and husbandry gears and the intacks. Item, to Ann Moore a mant and petticoat. Item, to Elizabeth Trollag a petticoat. Item, to Ellinor Gell a petticoat. Item, to her four goddaughters Isabel Kermod, Catharine Crebbin, Christian Hutchin, and Christian McDonald each a quoif. Item to the poor of the said parish six kishons of barley. Lastly, she constituted nominated and appointed her two sons Henry and Thomas joint and sole Executors of all the rest of her goods moveable and immoveable whatever. She declared Richard Scarff owed her twenty shillings, and John McDonald eleven shillings and eight pence, and John Kermod five shillings and ten pence. And this in the presence of us [witnesses] Patt. Carine, Jo: Waterson. Probata est & solvit 1 shilling.

The Executors being under age, their father Thomas Kermod is sworn in Court and gave pledges, the witnesses of the will. The inventory within a month.

A true and perfect inventory of the goods and chattels of Christian Kermod als Crebbin of Soroby apprized by four sworn men, vizt., John Cottier, Henry Corkil, John Kermod, & Patt. Carine, February 18th 1734/5, vizt., the dead’s part of the goods &c: [there follows one page of listed items]

At a Chapter Court held in Castletown the 22nd May 1735, Thomas Kermod the father and Supervisor of the orphans of Christian Kermod als Crebbin has by virtue of his oath given in the within inventory for a true and perfect accounting of all the goods belonging to the orphans by their mother’s decease, containing as well the goods as the cash in his own hands and in the hands of all other persons due to the deceased at the hour of her death.

October 28th, 1745, Henry Kermod one of the Executors of Christian Kermod came this day to the Registry and acknowledged to be fully satisfied and paid for all that was due unto him by the death of his mother at and from the hands of his brother William Kermod and does hereby acquit and discharge the said William and Executors for the sum’s forever. Before me, [signed] Robt Radcliff, Registrar. Eod. die, Thomas Kermod the other Executor of Christian Kermod came this day to the Registry and acknowledged to be fully satisfied and paid for all that was due to him by death of his mother aforesaid at and from the hands of his brother William Kermod and does hereby acquit and discharge the said William and Executors for the same forever. Before me [signed] Robt. Radcliffe."
