Archdeacon Wills 1733/4 #96, Maughold, of James Callow, died about 6 Dec 1733:

‘KK Maughold 1733: This is affirmed to be the last will and testament of James Callow of KK Maughold who departed this life about the 6 of December 1733, being of perfect mind and memory. First, he committed his soul to God and his body to Christian burial. Item, he bequeathed to his two youngest children (vizt., Easter & Joney) to each of them twenty shillings legacy. Lastly, he did constitute and appoint his loving wife, his son William, & his daughters Catherine & Isabel joint Executors of all the rest of his goods and chatles of what nature or denomination soever. He further declared that William Quayle of Ballneskeig was indebted to him the sum of 12 shillings 4 pence. Witnesses: John Christian, Mary Callow.

The Executors (Isabel excepted who is of age) are sworn in form of Law and give pledges Mr John Christian Clerk and Nich Kinnish Corrany.

July 31st, 1778, John Waterson husband of Joney one of the daughters of James Callow acknowledged to have received and to be fully satisfied the sum of twenty shillings, the same being a legacy bequeathed to my wife Joney by the last will of her father James Callow, and I do hereby acquit, release, and discharge his executors, administrators and assigns of said legacy of twenty shillings. Witness my mark to my name the day and date above written. [signed his mark] John Waterson.

July 31st, 1778, I Esther Callow one of the daughters of James Callow do hereby acknowledge to have received the sum of twenty shilling the same being a legacy bequeathed me by the last will and testament of my father James Callow, and I do hereby releace, acquit and discharge his exe cutors, administrators and assigns of said legacy, Witness my mark to my name the day and date above written. [signed her mark] Esther Callow."
