KK Andrews Febr: 2d 1719/20: This is afirmed to be the Last Will & Testamt of JANE RATCLIFFE, als [TEAR] who commited her soul to God, & body to Christian Burial:
Itt. She left & bequeathed to her SON JAMES RATCLIFFE her part of all ye houses & lands, her part of ye table, pott, gridle, big-barrel, & crop of corn, the sd JAMES paying for ye same twenty-shills to HIS SISTER MARY CHRISTIAN, & 20s more to his Father; In consideration of wch 20s as also ye Testatrix part of a feather-bed wth ye Cloaths belonging thereto, wch she leaves to her HUSBAND JON RATCLIFF, he, her sd husband, has consented & doth hereby oblige himselfe to leave his part of ye houses & Lands, together wth his half of all ye above sd particulars, to his foresd SON JAM. RATCLIFF after his decease.
Itt. She left to her SON RICHD RATCLIFFE ye brown heifer out of ye whole. Lastly she appointed & constituted ye sd RICHARD & ALICE HIS SISTER joint Execrs of all ye rest of her Goods moveable & immoveable whatsoever.
To ye Witnesses of ye will 12d a piece. JON RATCLIFFE my mrk J. Witnesses : Wm Sayle, N. Cowley, jurati NOTE, THAT YE ABOVE JOHN RATCLIFFE is to possess & enjoy all and singular ye houses & Lands abovesd during his life, & to return unto his SON JAMES RATCLIFFE as above specify'd after his decease. And this by their own Agreemt. As Witness their marks to their names

May 20th 1720: JON RATCLIFFE J, JAM. RATCLIFFE X. THOS RATCLIFFE HUSBAND TO ONE OF YE EXECRS is Sworn in Court in form of Law . & ye parties to ye above Agreement have acknowledged ye Same in Court. Probatum est et solvit 1s. Pledges in form of Law James Ratcliffe & Tho : Cormod.

KK Andrews, May 28, 1720: this day JOHN RATCLIFFE & HIS SON JAMES RATCLIFF havingmore fully & duely consider'd of the Agreement xxxx to ye Will of JANE RATCLIFF ALS TEAR lately decd & proved, touching the houses & lands & crop of corn; The half thereof the sd JANE RATCLIFF ALS TEAR left & bequeath'd to her sd SON JAMES RATCLIFF, tho' he did resign the same to his FATHER during his life; Yet is it now mutually agreed by the sd JOHN & JAMES Ratcliff, That ye sd Agreement writ & subjoyn'd to ye sd Will is to be void, & of no effect in Law, for ye future; But that ye sd Will is to stand in full force, & to all intent & proposes good & firm[?], particularly with Relation to the houses, lands & crop of corn, disposed & settled by the last Will of JANE RATCLIFF ALS TEAR: To which disposal the sd JOHN RATCLIFF has given his full consent & assent, And his SON JAMES has oblig'd himself to perform the conditions & Legacys therein mentioned, to be paid for ye sd Houses Lands & crop of corn. For performance of which they bind themselves & Execrs & Admirs in ye penalty of 20 pounds, according to the Law & practice of this Island. As witness their marks to their marks to their names: John Ratcliffe mrk ER, James Ratcliffe mrk, ER. Acknowledged before me, Cha: Watleworth, official. Let this be annex'd to ye Will of JANE RATCLIFF ALS TEAR of KK Andrews."
