Archdeaconal Will 1658 #93 Lezayre, of George Garrett,

: "KK Christ Le ayre, 11th of Mai 1658 ([page] 95): The last will and testament of George Carrett.
First committed his soule to God, and his bodie to Christian burall etc.
Itm, he bequeathed unto his mother one maire.
Itm, to his father one horse. Itm, he bequeathed unto his sister Jayne six sheepe.
Itm, more he bequeathed unto his father all the cattle hee had of his above, further his will was that whatsoever his father paid him in bargaine of contraction should returne to himself and hee to dispense thereof to what xxxx hee pleased.
Itm, he constituted appointed, and ordained his father his true and lawfull execrt of all his goods movable and unmovable. 20th 9bris 1658.
Testes Dollin Clarke, Wm Curghie, Tho Christian. The exec sworne. Probat et solvit.

Codicill added upon the oaths of the sd witnesses in these words following, vizt., The sd Testator said if the 40 pounds wch Parson Parre praised at his Contract unto him if[?] he did xxxxxxx his wife was due or xxxxxxx by law bequeathed by him; Then he left 10 pounds thereof to Dollin Clark, 5pounds to Wm Curghy, 5 pounds more to his sister Mrs Lowcay, 5 pounds to his mother, 20s to his cousen Jony Carrett, 40s to his ant Katherin Carrett, 40s to his Cousen Tho: Christian, 5 pounds to Wm Carrett his brother; and 5 pounds more to Roger, Jaine & Katherin Carrett his brother & sisters.[The codicil has been x’ed out.] Probat ut Supra. Invent at next Court Subpoena juris. The above Codicill is cancelled by order explaint at the other side of the leafe. KK Michael 23th 9bris 1658: Forasmuch as Parson Parr finding himself xxxxx concerning the codicil annexed to the within written will of George Carrett xxx the xxxxxx that 40 pounds was upon xxx at the Contract of the sd George, xxx the sd Parson absolutely denyed, and desired authoritye to call Jo: Carrett exec to the sd George which whome principally the sd Grant Con----- of Contract was made xxx the witnesses to---- that ever such a promise[?] was made by him or that ever such a thinge was agreed xxxx[fold] The sd Jo: hath accordingly appeared and xxx[fold] dispute of the same absolutely likewise deposed there was any such promise and made by Parson Parre or other agreement made betwixt them only a ban[?] mo---- not co----- xx upon h---[fold] added by the witnesses in discharge of th--- oaths; and for noe other end or purpose xxx[fold] Therefore it is ordered that the sd codicil added shall be forthwith cancelled and xxx[fold] further use to be made therof either by g---inge[fold] copyes by the Regr or otherwise xxx to remaine cancelled and of noe effect xxx[fold] all intents and purposes whatsoever. The Invent of George Carrett amounts to 8 pounds. The exec hath bound himself to deepe the office har----- subpoena double the value."
