Archdeacon Will 1653 #26 German of Captain Thomas Thompson,

died 9th October 1653:

"Ballalaugh [Ballaugh] the 9th of 8ber 1653: The last will and testament of THOMAS THOMPSON who departed this life the day and year above written. First he committed his soul to God and his bodie to Christian burial.
It, he left unto his WIFE the benefit of his lands until his SON NICHOLAS be one and twentie yeares of age.
It, he left unto his said SON NICHOLAS when he come to the said age of 21 years all his lands farm land and nitarks[?intacks].
It, he left unto his DAUGHTER MARGRETT and HER HUSBAND ROBERT CORLETT their handfasting bargan.
All the rest of his goods moveable and unmoveable he bequeathed unto his 2 SONS JOHN AND THO: his DAUGHTER MARIE and THE CHILD IN HIS WIVES WOMB equallie whom he constituted his true and lawfull executors.

Immediatelie after his will making he tould me he had forgotten one thing which he ----ed should be added to his will wch was that he clamed twelve pounds of his BROTHER SIR PATRICK THOMPSON wch his FATHER & MOTHER guifted and bequeathed unto him & his wife as further appeareth in the sd Sr PATRICK's contraction bargan. Ro: Parre, juratus. Probatum est et solvit 1s. .. Margret.
The CHILDREN yt are at lawfull yeares are ordained supervisers of ye CHILDREN under years. Pledges Tho: Woods of KK German and William Craine souldier their heirs executors and assigns, for ye forthcoming of the Inventorie and to secure ye office subpoena double the value.
HENRY CHRISTIAN entereth his clayme against the executors of CAPTAINE THO: THOMPSON for 8s of money due debt as he ye sd HENRY will make to appear and craveth tryall according to Lawe October the 9th 1654.
MR. JO: HESKETH entereth his clayme against the executors of CAPTAINE THO: THOMPSON deceased for a rapier[?] which was lent him by his BROTHER IN LAW JO: CANNELL whome ye sd THO: THOMPSON want for Ireland and craveth tryall according to Law, October the 18th 1654.
NOVEMBER 11TH 1654: HENRIE XPAN[CHRISTIAN] hath entered claim against the executors of THO: THOMPSON for twenty shillings of his porcion yt is unpaid being part of 6 pounds of porcion that the sd THO: was to pay for & in lieu[or live] of xxxx cloace[?] that his FATHER PARSON THOMPSON bequeathed xxxx unto ye sd THO: for paying the sd xxxxx xxx HENRIE XPAN as he can lawfullie prove xx xxxx xxxxxx his claime is entered wth in a yeare xxxxxx xxx proving of the will the day & yeare abovesd. FOR MR. NICHOLAS CHRISTIN in Ramsey these to be executed: Whereas EMIE NORRIS hath disobeyed as the Sumner hath made affidavit in not bringing in securities to secure ye forthcoming of her children's goods and to keep ye office harmless as ye law requires, Therefore you are hereby required to take charge of ye sd EMIE NORRIS until such tyme, as she ye sd EMIE put in securities for ye forthcoming of ye said goods and to secure ye office as abovesd given under my hand this 19th of December 1654, John Teare.

Imprimis, ye clerkship[?] of Ballaugh xx 2 years value to 20s per anno[?], all-------- ye one halfe thereof for doing ye sermer[?fermer] due to ye plantife 6 pounds.
It, more a new bee stock curtains & value, & a trunell bed & appraised 20s.
More 30s xxxxxx loeds[?] rent paped[?] by ye plantife for & in behalfe of his sd BROTHER deceased so when it did xxxxxxxxxxxx halfe ye tenement wth ye crop, profits, & benefit hereof being then wh---- in his xxxxxx &: possession.
It, more ye grassing of 30 head of cattle all summer ye usual rate 2s 6d ab----- to him voluntary of ye pla---- owne xxxxx to xxx ye beast sum due 45s 5d.
Ite, more horses & maires yount & old xx usual rate 5s every able beast ab----- to him at 3s horse or mare one with a nother 36s. A great geast[?] of wood pad out of ye harber valued to 4s ab----- to 2s.
RECEIVED FROM YE HANDS OF AMY NORRIS ALIAS CRAINE and WM CRAINE HER HUSBAND full satisfaction for my porcion due to me by the death of my FATHER THOMAS THOMPSON except my part of the twelve pound[?, part] legacy now in suite betwixt them and my UNCLE SIR PATRICK THOMPSON, which I testifie under my hand this 17th of November 1667. I DOE HEREBY ACKNOWLEDGE to have received at and from ye hands of my STEPFATHER WM CRAYN full satisfaction for my porcion due to me by ye death of my FATHER THO: THOMPSON or accordinge to my sd father's Inventory; I say received this 22th day Augt 16x3[?1673], by me MARY THOMPSON my marke H. Thomas Thompson, son of Nicho : Thompson, Parson, baptized the 24th of July, 1608, and was born into this world upon the Thursday before the 21st of the same month, about eight o’clock in the morning. [Ballaugh PR] - MHK 1650-1653.
