Archdeacon Wills 1647 ([page] 14)

Presentment dated 24 November 1647, regarding the dissolution of engagement of David Hamilton of Whitehaven, Cumberland, and Jane Banks of Conchan, Isle of Man:

" Att Castle Rushen ye 24th November 1647: xxxx that David Hamilton & Jane Banckes in ye presence of Mr. Samuel Rutter Archdeacon of this Isle, Mr. Jo: Greenhalgh preacher of God’s word, & Sir James Moore Registrar that taken their corporal oath that they the foresd: David & Jane had never any carnall knowledge ye one of ye other. Witness my name David Hambleton. SA Rutter, Archdcn. James Moore, Registr. I David Hamilton doe hereby free Jane Bankes from all promises of marriage whatsoever, re regard shee the sd Jane cannot procure the consent of her parents unto ye said marriage. Given under my hand this 25th of November 1647. David Hambleton. Before me, S.A. Rutter, Archdn. Xxxx that David Hamilton of Whithaven in the County of Cumberland & Jane Bankes of KK Concan will in the Isle of Man have mutually disengaged, and freed one the other from all promises of marriage, whatsoever in regard the said Jane cannot procure her parents consent unto the said marriage this 25th November 1647.
