Articles of Marriage condescended and con=
cluded upon betwixt John Kermot senr in the
behalfe of his son John Kermott junr on the one
partye; and Hen: Read with the consent of
his wife in the behalfe of their neece Joney
Read on the other partye; all persons belong=
inge to KK Xt Rushen 8ber 22 1676

First It is agreed and concluded upon that the forsd
John Kermott junr & Joney Read shall enter
into the holy state of matrimony within
a month after the date hereof God and
Holy Church permittinge the same ; & for the 
performance of the same doe by me [ ] [ ] in
the penalty of £10 ab usu Dom

2ly John Kermott senr gives with his son John Kermott
& his wife Joney twenty shillings & 1 colt
[] in 2 yeares of age at May next ensueing
this date with 1 blanket & 1 whorden sheete

3ly Hen: Kermott gives to his brother John 1 firlet
either of malt or barley before May next
ensueinge the date hereof

4ly Donald Kermott give with his nephew John

beinge of yt yearly rent of nineteene shil[]
& sixpence & frankely & freely doe gift, []
=stow all our right and tytle of the lande
within Fisgarth or other places nessarly? []
belonginge to the rent aforesd: & alsoe this []
willinge act or deed  unto John Kermott & Joney
his wife their heirs executors and assignes for ever
& likewise doe by [] ourselfes Hen: & Margrett
or heres executors or assigns from ever claiming
any right or tytle to the  sd lands []
as above expressed & unto this our free will act
& deed wee humbly desire ye worbl Govenr and
the rest of the court to grant their confirmation
to be hereunto annexed

Futher is is condescended and agreed upon that these
conditions is by the necessity of the sd Hen and
Margarett his wife granted and alsoe that the longer
liver either of Hen: & Margarett Read is to be
mantained by the younge couple (in their nessity)
with meate, drinke, lodgine & cloathes & if they
be able to worke to doe such services as becomes should
they are then to perform the same

Whereas my brother Henry Read & his wife have of their own
free will given all their interest right & tytle in & to a prcell of land
of nineteen shillings & sixpence annual rent to his and my loving neece 
as is within [] And for as much as I am []
sd lands after   [] of my sd brother) whereupon know all men ?
by these presents that I John Read of []  doe out of ye 
[] I have unto my within mentioned Neece Joney Read []
freely give all my interest right & tytle in & to the wthin prcell of land  []
my []  heires exectrs or assignes for ever from me my heirs exctrs
admintrs or assigns to come
also lett [] hereafter or

Att a sheading court holden
in Castle Rushen the 4th July 1694
The within articles being proved before Mr Deemster
Norris as is above certified by him the same is
thereupon allowed of and confirmed according to the
statute pr[]ided in that behalfe by me

There is a will in 1663/4 for a John Read - dated 9 Mar 1663/4;ch Henry,John snr,ann,thomas,john jnr;wife alive - it would appear that one of the Johns is the father of Joney, the other John gives any title he may have to the land to Joney

In 1686 there is a Henry Read in Saureby
