North Side Sale, 1775 #57 Maughold - John Christian to John Looney

  Know all men by these presents that I John Christian of
        Lewaige in the parish of KK Maughold with the full Consent & [Assent]
        of Mary Christian Alias Savage my Wife Divers good causes and
        Several valuable Considerations us hereunto Moving but Cheifly _
        and more Especially for and in Consideration of the full & just Sum
        of Seventy two pounds Seventeen Shillings & Six pence of good and
        Lawfull money according to the Currency of this Isle to us in hand
        already paid and Satisfied, the receipt whereof We do hereby Acknowledge
        and Confess, at by and from the hands of John Looney of the sd. parish
        of KK Maughold (Weaver) Have given granted, alienated, bargained
        and Sold, and by these presents Do give grant alienate passover
        and for ever absolutely Sell All our Right, Title, interest and
        property whatsoever of in and unto Drim-Scarry Quarterland
        being Three Certain Fields which are commonly called & known by
        the Name or Names of Gearry-Beg - Bwooil-Truan, And Faiy =
        Gearry-Voar, or Faiy-Gearry-killey, All adjoining each other &
        adjoining to Lewaige Quarterland on the North & East __ and to
        William Christian of Ballatersin's Land on the South East __ And
        to Robert Logan's Lands and Thos. Mc.Ylvorrey's Lands on the
        South __ And to the said Thos. Mc. Ylvorrey's Lands on the West __
        unto him the said John Looney his Heirs Execrs. Admrs. & Assigns
        To have and To hold the beforementioned premises unto him
        the said John Looney with all Ways Waters, water-courses __
        Easements Liberties, properties & Appurtenances whatso =
        : ever from the Day of the Date hereof, for ever as AforeSaid _
        He the said John Looney Yeilding and paying yearly & every
        Year such a proportionable part of Lord's rent as the Setting
        Quest of KK Maughold shall allot on the premises, together
        with all Boons, Suits and Services annually incumbent on
        the same at the times and Seasons usually Accustomed, And
        I the said John Christian and my Wife aforesaid Do Covenant to
        and with the said John Looney the premises beforementioned
        (being prescription Land) to Awarrant uphold & Defend unto
        him his Execrs. Admrs. and Assigns and to do & perform any Act
        or Acts, thing or things requisite and necessary in Law for the Sd.
        John Looney and Execrs. Admrs. or Assigns Security herein, And
        for the true & faithfull performance of all and singular the ~
        within and above Bill of Sale and every Clause Covenant and
        Sentence Therein Contained, I the said John Christian & Mary
        Christian Alias Savage my Wife aforesaid Do bind ourselves &
        our Heirs Execrs. Admrs. & Assigns In & under the penalty and
        forfeiture of One Hundred & forty Six pounds Sterling to be __
        Levied & paid according to Law & practice within this Isle As
        Witness our Names hereunto Subscribed this 21st April 1775

We the Setting Quest of KK Maughold in Abience to the Order __
granted on the Beforegoing Bill of Sale, having viewed the premises
therein mentioned, and we find by the Entries of Wm. Callow / Cornaugh
Dhew / Wm. Callow / Miller / Robt. Logan, Robt. Creer, Robt. Stole and
Charles Callow, we find that they stand respectivelt Entered for __
the whole of Driem Skarry's Quarterland Rent Excepting __
four Shillings and it appearing by an Authentik Coppy
of the Great Enquest of Garff Sheading's Return dated the 29th 
Augt. 1772 Convened at the Suit of John Christian of Lewaige __
that a small parcel of Land called Faij Garry Voar of Faij
Garry Killey (mentioned in the said Bill of Sale) is part of
Driem Skarry's Quarterland. We do therefore Settle on the __
Premises mentioned in the foresaid Bill of Sale the Said __
Remaining sum of four Shillings, which we look upon
to be reasonable although the Said Faij Garry Voar or Faij
Garry Killy was not reputed to be part of Driem Skarrys __
Quarterland at the former Settlements of Rent, and this we
give for our Return, as witness our Names & marks this
20th day of May 1775.

                                           for Garff Sheading the 22nd day of May 1775. __
The before written Deed of Sale being acknowledged before the Deemster &
now openly published in Court & no Objection offered agt. it The same
therefore is allowed of for & in the name & behalf of Her Grace Charlotte
Duchess of Athol [Lad] of Mann & the Isles & confirmed by this Court.
