G99 Epitaphs/Memorial Inscriptions

[Note the Classification is my own]

Neither are here [ St Germans, Peel] any antient inscriptions on grave-stones, which are scarce anywhere to be met with, except some few in Kirk Malew, the governour’s parish.

Browne Willis 1722

Feltham in 1797/8 recorded the Memorial Inscriptions in all bar one of the Manx Churchyards. The IoM Family History Society have published lists of all existing (i.e. post 1995) memorial inscriptions.

There are a few attempts at humour (conscious or otherwise) in Manx Churchyards - LaMothe gives a number of the more amusing ones; J. A. Brown also derives some humour from those in New Braddan yard. A few of those in Lonan are also commented on by the vicar.
