Published in Douglas at the Mona's Herald Office by Robert Fargher, and dated May, 1855. Gives Law-Court information, Fairs in May, Coaches, Steam Packets to Liverpool, and Table of Duties Applicable to the Isle of Man. Post Office Information includes the times of the arrivals and dispatches of mails at Douglas.

Then the principal tradesmen of Douglas, Ramsey and Castletown are dealt with. A small unbound pamphlet which began to appear with Jefferson's Almanack, which was printed by John Christian Fargher, about the year 1879. The Directory appeared as an appendix to the Almanack until 1890. The 1879 issue has the imprint: 'J. C. Fargher, Athol Hall, Athol Street,' and its size is 172 x 110 mms., pp. 32. The 1881 copy is actually bound in with Jefferson's Almanack, and is pp. 35.

BROADBENT, S. K., Co EXAMINER LTD. ISLE OF MAN EXAMINER ANNUAL.

This is the first almanack and directory in book form since that of Jefferson. It was first published in 1892 when W. Cubbon was manager and acting-editor of the Examiner, and became a great success. A novel and interesting feature is the 'Portrait Gallery' of Insular worthies, with short biographical notes. The size of the first booklet, was foolscap octavo (165 x 105 mms. ). The subsequent issues are crown octavo (185 x 120 mms.). An essential feature of the first issues is that a section of 32 pp. of English-printed pages was embraced in it, but after the issue dated 1924 all the pages were printed on the premises.
