Simon Bell
Simon BELL was born abt. 1793 in 'Scotland'. He travelled to the IOM and married at Lezayre in 1813 to Jane Clague. Simon and his family are recorded on both the 1841 and 1851 censuses showing his place of birth to be Scotland. Simon died in 1853 at Douglas and was buried in Lezayre alongside his wife. One of their children, also named Simon, is also buried at Lezayre. I have been unsuccessful in locating a Will for Simon, and his marriage registration does not include his place of birth. I am hoping someone else might be looking into this family and can assist me with discovering Simon's birthplace in Scotland and/or his parents' names. Simon's wife, Jane Clague, was born in Lezayre and was the d/o John Clague and Margaret Kelly. Simon and Jane's children include John b. 1817, Arthur b. 1818, Edward b. 1822, James b. 1822, Sarah b. 1824, a second son named Edward b. 1825, and Henry Wesley b. 1827, all born at K. Michael.
