Ref: this thread I also heard from the Manx Museum ,school records pre 1860 are very poor but then only a few names per school there after, which I found to be dismal.

How ever they passed this info: to me as follows below.

"Have you looked at An Island that led: the history of Manx Education, vols 1 & 2, by Hinton Bird? It can be useful for biographical information on teachers. It may be available through inter-library loans at your local library.
