Re: Bannan/on/in
In Response To: Re: Bannan/on/in ()

Hi Iain,

The burials which Carol mentioned have:
Daniel CORLETT, 73 yrs., Braddan, buried Maughold 27 May 1897.
Myra CORLETT, 60 yrs., Ramsey, buried Maughold 23 Nov 1898.

Baptisms in the Maughold parish register:
William John [son of] Daniel Corlett/ Myra [bapt] Parish Church 17 Nov 1872
Catherine Daniel Corlett/ Myra Parish Church 9 Jan 1876
Mary Ann Daniel Corlett/ Myra Ballan Parish Church 13 Feb 1866
Myra Ann Daniel Corlett/ Myra Bannan Parish Church 5 Jan 1857
Daniel Daniel Corlett/ Myra Bannan Parish Church 30 May 1870. Private baptism
Isabella Margaret Daniel Corlett/ Myra Bannan Parish Church 17 Jul 1870
Robert Edward Daniel Corlett/ Myra Bannon Parish Church 10 Oct 1862.

Robert's daughter Ann Bannan's marriage to Daniel CALLOW, and other details are here:

There were also Maughold baptisms around the same time as those for Daniel Corlett & Mira's children for the children of an Ann or Annie Bannan (sometimes Barron) and Daniel Corlett, which is rather confusing - and apparently also confused the vicar! However this marriage makes it clear (I think) that the entries should have been for Barron, not Bannan:
19 Mar 1881
Robert Birtis KERMENN, Full age, Bachelor, Miner, Maughold, [father] John Kermeen, Labourer, and
Annie CORLETT or BARRON, Widow, Maughold, [father] Thomas Barron, Farmer.
