Re: Ancestors of John Corjeage
In Response To: Re: Ancestors of John Corjeage ()

Hi Donna

I was really interested to see your generous posting, especially the wills of Richard Quirk and William Corjeag 1853 which I hadn't ordered yet - just as well as the film number I have is different from the one you quote!

I thought I would just add a line from the end of Ann Corjeage als Quirk's 1844 will which gives a bit more information about the pledges:

"Probate of the last will and testament of Ann Corjeage dec’d to Wm Corjeage and whereas Chas Kerran of Lhergy Vreck and John Corjeage of Broogh Jairg in the parish of Ballaugh have agreed to become pledges …."

Do you, or does anyone else know, who the other John Corjeag is in William's 1853 will you quote:-

"!EPISCOPAL WILL Kirk Michael 1853 #39 FHL Film #0106454:
William Corjeage of Ballionney in the parish of KK Michael

pledges
namely John Corjeag of Ballioney in the sd parish of Michael and John
Corjeag of Brooghjairg in the parish of Ballaugh"

I'm ok with the Brooghjairg John, it's the "John Corjeag of Ballioney" I'm interested in - presumably it's not his son.

John son of Richard C & Jane Darcy could possibly be described as of Ballioney but I'm not sure if he was still alive – he was, I think, at the battle of Trafalgar and I haven't got a place or date of burial for him.

I don't know, I go away for a few days and the board goes mad with Corjeags!
