Thanks, Frances. Found the will (or petition) you mentioned. Very interesting that the request was for the release of funds to educate the children and that the eldest (Thomas) should be sent to a "distant and proper" school (Liverpool?). Joan Borrowscale also mentioned that she had found a Robert Cain who she thought might be related, so further possibilities there.
