A Cooil query

Hi
I have a query or mystery to solve regarding the mother of Robert Henry Cooil (known as Harry) c1861, Peel.

He was my gg uncle and his father was Richard Cooil c1834, Abory. I recently discovered that he was illegitimate. Is there somewhere I can look to find out who his mother was when I come over to the Island next month. The MM?

Richard lived in Peel certainly from 1861, and married Christian Elizabeth Quirk c1836, Patrick, in 1866 in Peel. He was a saddler and harness maker.

An entry in IGI, by a LDS member, states that Christian was the mother. Family legend says that Richard was running round after more than one young lady in the 1860's, and that Robert was dumped on their "doorstep" when Christian had Richard Alfred in 1868.

The 1911 census states that Christian had 6 children all living would seem to support the fact that she is not Robert's mother, as Richard and she had 5 sons and 1 daughter. Of these children all but James Arthur c1869 were living with them in 1911, at 1 Atholl Place, Peel. James was a curate in Ince, Wigan.
The other fact that might support the illegitimate fact is that he was left out of Richard's 1912 will.

Thanks in anticipation
Karen
