hello, am back from bonnie scotland and managed to not get wet, which was quite an achievement!
have just seen the corris posts. nothing would surprise me with these killeys.
have dug around on the igi and found a marriage record for john killey and mary callow which gives those birth dates as about 1779 for him and about 1783 for her. but as I now have the original marriage record and it doesnt mention their ages, only that they married with consent of parents.
have rummaged around in the public family trees on ancestry, as much as I could see without being a member, and the general thought seems to be that john was john kelley b 1779 german, son of john kelley and catherine kelley. I dont think this is my john at all. would make him above age of consent and it after looking at original records the differnce between killey and kelley doesnt seem to get mixed up that much at all.
some people seem to have johns d o b as 1874, with no parents for him. they must have seen the john son of james killey and anne quayle, that I have found......but of course, no proof. I did see that a couple of people have a census record for john, 1851 in bride. could anyone please have a look for this and let me know what iy says and if it is likely to be my john killey?
again, many thanks. xx
