Cannell was a long-established name in the Isle of Man. Probably equivalent to the Irish surname O'Connall, however that helps us.

Like many names, it was spread over the Island, there were Ballacannells (farmstead of Mac Cannell) in Lonan and Arbory, but it is more likely that your family has connections with Kirk Michael, perhaps the most numerous and prolific heartland. However there was a very long established family at Ballawillin in Baldwin. Many Manx people will have Cannells somewhere in their ancestry, I have 2xCannell great-great grandmothers. Isabella from the Arbory coast at Ballaadoole and Catherine from the Ballacarnane family in Kirk Michael.
