Henry W Corrin Peel

Hi, Sue,

Further to my earlier message. I had not checked the address when I replied, but 4 Market ST PEEL was part of the address of Arthur Brown's shop, which was 4/6 Market St, and was.is a double fronted shop which has at different times been one or two shops. The upstairs would be the usual "Live over shop" accommodation. Arthur Brown apparently set up in business in 1883 at Peel, and opened the Ramsey shop c1900. Greetham was born at Peel in 1899, but by 1901 the family were living in Ramsey.

Arthur Brown kept the Peel business for some time, but then decided he could not give personal supervision to two shops and sold the Peel business. Henry W Corrin was therefore living above the shop that his son in law owned. That does not help us with the property further along the lane, as I thought at first, but makes perfect sense. Arthur had an empty flat above the shop, where the family HAD resided from 1889 when he married Christiana to 1899 or 1900.

SOme time between 1901 and 1906 (guess) he would have sold the shop. Maybe, Henry William came to live with them in Ramsey for a while, but I do not know.
