Re: john mcneil/margaret clucas

This is how Ancestry has transcribed the 1841 McNeil family you've found, Averill. It's Onchan, district 5, page 10 (I couldn't bring it up using Brian Lawson's index numbers for some unknown reason, but I found it by just entering "Clara, born 1840" )

The handwriting is so bad, it's almost illegible. The first name on the list looks like Jn McNeil, age could be 20 or 30, joiner. Wife is more like Magr than Mary, age 35. Then 3 boys, ages 6, 4 and 2, names written as shortened versions but look like squiggles. Then, in the female column, a 10 month old, also illegible, but could begin Cl. All born IOM. Hope this helps !
