Is there something in the suggestion that the majority of Treen names appear to be Norse whereas most quarterlands seem to be topographic or based on personal names.

Surnames were supposedly introduced by the Normans - the Welsh still used patrononymics until well after 1511 and the 'Island was isulated from such influence till possibly the 13th C yet the first Manorial rolls seems to have a unique family name for each quarterland - is there something else going on here ?
