It looks like a sad story. Thomas was born 21st May 1837 [Santon] and I think may have been in the Royal Navy for some years then appears as a labourer in Lonan in 1871 where Isabella Ann Kermode was living nearby aged 17 years. They married 1874 and she died 1877 aged 23. The son they had born 1876 died in 1879 aged 34 months.
Looks like it's back to trying to trying to find out about the Navy mid 1800's ie HMS Agamemnon or HMS Hannibal for more info on Thomas.
