Re: Charlotte Chapman,

**************************************************************

Charlotte Chapman married Henry Corrin (1803-1974) at Castletown on 19 Dec 1830. She was buried at Malew 27-05-1851 ans her husband in Nov 1874, and I have seen their memorial. IN 1851 at the time of death she was 41, so born c1810. The 1841 census gives her place of birth "England". Does anyone have any details on this lady's ancestry ? I have the Corrin side and her descendants sorted out, but she simply "appears".

This is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

The only thing I see as a possible clue is the name that Henry and Charlotte chose for one of their children who died as a baby:

5. JULIA CORRIN - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Christening: 08 JUN 1836 Saint Marys, Castletown, Isle Of Man, England

CORRIN, Julia 9 mos Mal 14 Mar 1837

Julia is unlikely to have been a Corrin family name as it was uncommon in the IOM at that time.

I looked for a Charlotte Chapman b circa 1810 with a mother called Julia and drew a blank. So I looked for a Julia Chapman who could have been a sister of Charlotte. There are several possibilities----this is one of them:

Extracted birth or christening record for the locality listed in the record. The source records are usually arranged chronologically by the birth or christening date.

It was the "Chatham, Kent" which caught my attention because it suggests a father connected with the navy. Then I thought about Charlotte, an English girl in Castletown, which could suggest a father in the forces, but then that would be the army, I suppose.

Have you found the 19th Dec 1830 marriage in the parish register ? I see that it's in the IGI, but only as a patron submission.
