I have trawled the census records again for Thomas and Isabella, but none of them seem to fit. Unless they died early, which doesn't seem probable for both of them, it may be that they are there, but we just can't recognize which one it is!

It doesn't help that Thomas jun. married before the 1841 census.

It will remain a mystery why William and helen are not on 1851 but appear on 1861. I have searched for them as well.
