Hi Eileen. I think we chatted before, because John Atkinson's wife was Mary Jane GELLING, married 3 Oct 1878 Braddan. Three children John 1879, Benjamin 1887, Richard 1888. I don't know anything about Atkinson but I know some things about Gelling.

I'm now pretty certain Mary Jane was the daughter of John GELLING & Margaret Jane COTTIER (known as Jane) married 31 Jul 1841 Marown. Margaret Jane Cottier was the daughter of Robert COTTIER and Jane GELLING and there is a connection to the Ballamillagyn Gellings, who have been discussed here in the past. Her husband John Gelling might be a cousin but the great number of John Gellings makes it hard to decipher. John Gelling married a second time in later life to yet another Gelling (and 30 years younger): Eleanor Elizabeth GELLING in 1878 Braddan. I haven't placed her yet and she may have been a widow.
