Re: Catherine Mylchreest (b.1873 Lonan)

Dear Syliva,

Thank you for this information. In the 1891 Census Catherine Mylchreest is listed working as a domestic servant in the house of a Wm H. Metcalf in Union Mills in the Parish of Bradden. There appears to be no mention of her in the 1881 Census, although there is a Catherine Mylchreest with the same year of birth (abt. 1873) but with a different place of birth (Castletown) recorded who was the daughter of James and Ellen Mylchreest. Incidentially, I do know that a number of the children of Robert Stewart Cunningham and Catherine Mylchreest remained in the Isle of Man until the late 1960, where Ethel ran a guest house in Douglas (I remember visiting in about 1964) and one or more of the brothers (John and William) had a building business. They all emigrated to Raglan, New Zealand in the late 1960’s or early 1970’s.
